The Sum of Personal Histories
The Sum of personal Histories explores the American landscape through old and new documentation of family vacation photographs. Having never lived in one place longer than 5 years I have spent the majority of holidays looking out car widows as I have traveled back and forth across southern portions of America. This series explores the nostalgia of traveling and sightseeing through a blending of old and new memories that have been photographical preserved. -
The Afterlife of Memory
The Afterlife of Memory is an exploratory photographic series that captures and preserves memories in the form of photographic objects. Color archival inkjet panoramic images, along with Artist’s books, illustrate re-contextualized personal memories that have no clear beginning or end. This body of work investigates memory loss and personal fear of forgetting by attempting to physically preserve mental impressions before they are entirely forgotten. -

Huffer Family Designs
“Huffer Family Design” is a series of collaborative installations by Leah Gose and Ashlae Shepler that address the intersection between the action of viewing and the social boundaries defining public and private. The first is a 4’ x 6’ grid of peephole views of various actions within domestic spaces. It seemingly embodies mundane moments that serve to ignite a voyeuristic experience in order to blur the distinction of what is real (object) and illusion (photograph). -
Book Arts
These artist books explore the way in which the mind stores memories and the process of recalling them. I am fascinated with how stress or trauma can affect those delicate memories causing confusion, frustration and isolation. These books explore a desire to bring order to the chaos of the mind through the organization of fragmented memories. -
